In 2006, Father & Son bookmakers Michael and Alan Eskander started Eskander’s Betstar, a Corporate Bookmaking operation licensed and based in Melbourne and Darwin.

Michael Eskander has been in the bookmaking game for 25 years, fielding on the Melbourne Rails and more recently on the Sydney Rails.  He immigrated to Australia from Egypt in 1966 and worked in a number of industries before setting his sights on bookmaking. Since being granted his licence in 1984 he has become one of Australia’s most prominent and well respected bookmakers.

Alan Eskander, son of Michael was educated at Trinity Grammar Kew and later achieved a bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Economics.  Alan received his first bookmaker’s license in 1997 and started fielding at country race tracks, three years later Alan was granted his Metropolitan rails license.
