Only two race meetings today, the first starts at 10am and that will throw everybody, including us althought the stuff will be there in time. Yesterday a good day for the DAILY FEATURE where the betting was wide oopen and we backed the top three, coming out with double our money on a dutch bet, a little less if all three were bet level stakes. I was talking to a client the other day on trainer and jockey combinations. Well there is a feature in the GTX program where you can view all the relevant jockey stats for each race. It shows the number of rides at todays track and the riders strike rate for those and probably more importantly, the profit or loss if you backed all those combinations and the data base is updated every day. For example D Dunn has a 20% strike rate overall at a loss of 20% and for the Bendigo track the strike rate is the same. J Winks when riding at Bendigo has had 30% winners and a profit of 20%, that’s a major difference. Winks is not a high profile jockey and so when riding, his winners are at a higher price and so lose less than the high profile types like Dunn. But clearly he is getting good rides from the O’Brien stable. His first ride today is on first starter Lycurgus in the first at Bendigo. You probably wont see major market moves for him but if you see a tightening of the price ten minutes out it might indicate that the combination has high hopes for the colt. The rider and trainer stats can be processed thought the GTX system developer.
