When John Furgal recommended Prince Of Arran for the Geelong Cup he thought he was looking at a $3 winner at best yet for some reason it drifted to as much as $4.60 before starting at $4.20. It was also our Daily Feature Race so every subscriber got the benefit f the win.
I assumed a $3 price so put $330 on it altogether to make it a collect of $1,000. The extra dividend was welcome.
Rod Cleary asked me about my opinion of the Manicato tomorrow night and Bivouac. I suggested that I might be laying Bivouac, not because it can’t win, it probably will, but because there were several other gallopers in the mix , not the least of which is Ttrope.
We have it as $6.80 the field (thats allowing for a bonus for us if we get that price or better). The reality is that sometimes it’s not about the ratings but the ranking, in other words, what is the top pick then the second and so on.
Anyhow, they are tellling us that the Geelong Cup time was the best for 26 years so it takes me back to Media Puzzle. That was a more dominant win then Prince Of Arran but then Arrans win had more merit in the manner in which it was won. Let’s see my last Cup Win of note was Prince Of Penzance…Prince Of Arran has a nice ring to it!!
