Yes, Friday was a shocker, I am glad I missed it. The Market 2/3 runners were having a brilliant day and night though. It has been an exhausting weekend, Flemington on Saturday I had my first ever runner and she ran last in the Vanity. The last horse I had in a Group3 ran 2nd last and to date has not won another race.
Anyhow it was great to see Flemington alive and kicking again. Its now masks off and good times If Saturday is anything to go by.
Of course I got told off for not having my tie on and I said “hang on mate” I do have a tie but no need to put it on until you where to pick up my owners ticket so I did that and came back and was greeted by the Owners Concierge who then took me around the new grandstand and Paddock areas and covered everything. The it was the owners bar where we were treated to all day snacks and drinks for the first real day of the Melbourne Autumn Carnival. Pity we didn’t collect a winner.
How different was Ballarat on Sunday. No dressing up just normal casual was the name of the game and all in all very laid back and fun. I think I worried about the concrete cancer on the steps to the main dining area but not crowded overall. A very pleasant trip until we caught the late afternoon traffic on the Westgate bridge.
So yes I’m back but still weighing my options with the Prostate. Did I say I met some pretty wonderful people in that owners room and then saw the new stable areas at Ballarat behind the course. Many Flemingotn trainers now have a satellite stable there, a bot cold but the horses like it. Spoilt rotten they are.
