Of course two of those winners were in the last two years and the influence of the UK based runners is killing me. Still it didn’t stop me winning on Prince Of Penzance, Almandin, and Protectionist or Makybe Diva 3 years in a row. Reality is that punters only remember what happened yesterday and although it wasn’t a good day overall for us yesterday Highstrikers Last Minute Mail had a good day, won again early , and our two feature races at Rosehill were successes in Kolding/Sunlight Quinella $70+ and Pierata and Trekking fighting out the sprint feature as suggested.
I’ve selected the past two Caulfield Cup winners at $51 and $6 so going okay overall wouldnt’ you say but this is the last time I bother getting excited about the Melbourne Cup. I will now treat it as just another race even though I do expect to win again this year with just two choices. The video is online, posted late last night and already hundreds of people have viewed it, I think over 4,000 last year and 2400+ for the Caulfield Cupthis year.
The Golden Eagle was a fizzer and I don’t think anyone who saw the promotional video would have taken it as any more than another Melbourne Cup or Derby Day promotion. It was nowhere near the sellout crowd they were hoping for but the fact that 3 of the top 4 finishers were longshots tells you what a great race it can be. How much better could it be if it was run just after the Cup Carnival or on the last day for that matter so the winner of the 1600 on Derby Day could back up in Sydney. Just a thought, instead of moving the Cup Carnival eh Peter?
