We had a ‘late’ start yesterday, up and ready to go but somehow we had managed a toilet problem that required some attention. Some people may equate such an issue with my betting but fortunate for me I’m thick skinned. Anyway, toilet problem remained unresolved………until later in the day. However, it did cost us a bit of time. We left around 9:10 and proceeded to meander through the waterways of Hinchinbrook Island. I made a slight omission yesterday in its description as the largest National park in Queensland. I should have said the largest ISLAND National Park in Queensland. If anyone picked up on that, well done, but no prize!…………………………………Finally we broke free of the ISLAND, and then was confronted with the longest jetty come conveyor belt in Australia (my opinion, not fact). We needed to manouvre close to the shore and the shore access to the ‘jetty’ and then proceed a certain distance along the ‘jetty’ before heading out at a particular heading (designated by twin lights) in case we ran aground in shallow waters! At some point in time the depth alarms were going crazy, but i guess you know we made it, else you would be hearing about it on the 6pm news….”Idiots run aground blah blah blah”. We have now anchored at the most peaceful spot so far this trip, Palm Island. It is reported to be an aboriginal community, but it must be something special. Within 30 minutes of anchoring, 3 small planes landed and took off at their grass strip. There are motor vehicles traveling along the coast in what we see as continually. No matter, we enjoyed a quiet beer or two listening to nothing much except a bit of slapping of the water on the boat…………..John Furgal missed with his only selection yesterday, he will make amends. Till tomorrow, good luck
