Turned out there were two Maiden selections yesterday. The first of them was not favourite but the second was and it was a winner. By a quirk of fate, on Betfair at the precise moment when bets are placed or not, the first horse was equal favourite and so my first bet was placed. It ran 3rd, still a win and a 3rd from two selections is a good result. If I am looking live and I reached that same stage of the market I would have seen the trend, our horse easing and the one that ended up favourite, firming and perhaps I would have given it another 30 seconds or so to reach finality and saved my money but still, it might have won anyway. No SMS selections from John Furgals service yesterday. I could be having as many as 9 bets today with my first look before scratchings and two runners are selected by three different plans. An interesting day perhaps. I won’t even look furtther and in detaisl until the finals are in and track conditions will also play a part but it does seem as though it will hold my interest.
