We had a follow up question from Peter, after he purchased the ratings to operate the C plan. Peter has decided to focus on the major races and follow the top 2 Winform rated horses. Can the WNET figure help determine the ‘class’ of horse?
Anyone who looks at the TAB ratings and those on SKY would know that they rate the field downwards from 100. By definition then, their ratings propose that a Maiden Race top rater of 100 is equivalent to, say, a Cox Plate top rater of 100. Not so. The Cox Plate is arguably the champion WFA race in Australasia and worth a lot more money than a Maiden at Gundagai (no offence to the Gundagai Jockey Club), therefore a better ‘class’ of race.
What Winform ratings users would notice is that the Gundagai Maiden top rated WNET figure could be as high as 46.6, and the Cox Plate (2017) top rated WNET rating was 77.2. A
massive difference between the two, as you would expect.
So, in summary, yes WNET ratings help determine the ‘class’ of race that you are looking at. Another quick way to pick the better ‘class’ of race is the prizemoney on offer. The bigger the purse, the more likely to attract the better ‘class’ of horse.
On another note, Mr Furgal did it again yesterday with his only selection proving to be a winner at Taree at $3+
