I’m personally disappointed that we cant follow the Birdsville Carnival in full, and we just hope tomorrows Cup can go ahead. The wet season we have had this year just keeps keeping on.
WE have an early potential C Plan race today at Canberra race 1 (Sky Diamonds was originally entered for this but saved for Rosehill next Saturday) we had thought that No 5 Superview was our main danger. It is $3.60 favourite and for our second support runner we chose 7 La Valkerie which has a dreary win record but is 3rd up and last prep did win 3rd up over this distance.
Thw Wyong Cup field is poor but surely Lor d Ardmore can win it even though a $2.10 fav. Danger if any is 9 YiYi at $4.80. It is a C Plan race but a skinny margin. Maybe back the fav and just Save your stake on the 9. That would be $50 on the fav and $13 on the 9 to get square.
SPRING DOWNFALL CAUSES ONE DAY POSTPONEMENT OF ICONIC BIRDSVILLE RACES
– Day 1 of the iconic Birdsville Races, originally scheduled to kick-off , September 2, has been postponed following unseasonal inclement weather that has made track conditions temporarily unsuitable for racing.
The Saturday race program on September 3, which will include the headline TAB Birdsville Cup will proceed as scheduled.
The Birdsville Race Club and Racing Queensland are looking at all available options for re-scheduling for Day 1 in the coming days and further announcements will be made tomorrow.
“So much work goes into putting the Birdsville Races on and so many punters travel thousands of kilometres to join us at this unique outback carnival. Unfortunately, the weather has come into play over the past day and we’re disappointed to have to delay the start of the races, but we’re eagerly looking forward to the sun coming out tomorrow and a successful Saturday program.
“Spirits remain high in Birdsville as thousands of punters flock into town. The pub is bustling and there’s loads of fun and frivolity as we look forward to a great few days or racing and entertainment. The good news is we have sunny skies ahead of us, so after a day of forecasted sunshine tomorrow, we’ll be back on track and running on Saturday,” said Gary Brook, Vice President of the Birdsville Race Club.
