4 of the runners I high;lighted in the Caulfield Cup ran 2,3,4,5 and I think 6 or 7. Couldnt have the winner with someone elses money. Anyhow C Plan was good, Betsmart flamed out at Caulfield but Randwick was okay but clearly no profit so a bit of a black hole. It happesn but rarely.
The Everest Quinella paid $60 for me and the quaddie was just under $1,000 (B365 best of three totes) while only $700 in NSW.
I had backed the winner early at the good price and again a small top up yesterday. I tipped Overpass in my Everest summary and recommended backing it in the other race if it missed a start and heres the irony. Both races were run in 1.873 on the damp track, very in line with my published figures on YouTube. Had Overpass got a start I wouldnt have been able to back both horses to win.
Amelias plan even made a level stakes profit but the Powerplay would have run well enough even though no real longshots till much later in the day.
Darwin failed me but thats how it goes. Overall a very nice profit on the day
You would have noticed Craig Williams yesterday, how could you not. When we launched the paper version of Horseracingaustralia magazine we included a full two page spread of Craig. And now nearly 20 years later he and his wife spend time in Ukraine providing humanitarian aid for their people and fits in magnificent rides in Australias greatest races. Like many Racing families they have a great heart.
