Its true, gambling ads are very non informative and blasted with warnings which everyone laughs at. Regular punters know they can win or lose. Many don’t care as its just an entertainment to them.
To be honest they annoy me. I spent years condemning Governments from their anti gambling ads because their entire attitude was based on anti competition as only the government run TABS were able to advertise and you may not realise, I didnt either, that the form guides in papers were paid for by the TAB.
Anyhow advertising freed up competition but now its gone too far. For problem gamblers there is no solution, of there were no official gambling they would still find a way. Ive known widows who have blown their entire estate on poker machines and many still do. At least when its gone they qualify for the pension but lump sums can never be got back.
Amazing how Lottto and so on are NOT considered gambling ads but thats because the Government make mega bucks from them. Same with “scratchies”. Many of these “games” return as little as 40% back to the players. The Opera House lottery was created to fund the Opera House and now there are lotteries run by charities for many good causes including paralympians. Noone objects to this but a lot of the other money goes to Government to fund their excess.
The weekend was less than fruitful, it has been the worst month of the year for Winform Ratings generally so far. Its a transition period, winter horses giving way to Spring ones and the prep of these horses is varied. Some are primed for first up performances, others for a more staged prep. How do you campare the two, you cant.
With Good tracks becoming the norm rather than rain affected many horses havnt even seen a firm track yet. So it is hard to judge.
Anyhow I did notice that our roughly 40% win strike for Winform top rated runners that are favourites still holds up.
Follow the money? Which money? The idiots following the fools on Sportsbet? Sadly, many do. aNo pint in following even truly informed money as those people already have their money on.
You probably didnt know but should, there are major players out there who plunge into markets while turnover is low, deliberately creating a false favourite, so they can lay it on Betfair.
