Well AFL Grand Final next week, two NRL seminfinals two NRLW semis then the next weekend the NRL Grand Final and Daylight Saving. I hate Daylight saving.
Daylight saving means Northern Territory and WA scratchings are an hour later. So 11 am Saturday before I can finalise selections for those venues when I would much prefer to have my day organised. It means sitting around an extra hour and it applies most days of the week.
It also means we are still focused on results as much as two hours later than usual (the extra daylight hours means the last race on East Coast venues can be 6 o’clock or even later.
Its simply a longer working day for Trainers and jockeys and even stable hands.
There was a race meeting last week where there were only enough jockeys to fill each of the races, heaven help if there was a problem during the day.
Overall I reckon that without female jockeys we’d be hard pressed to fill the number of races run.
Oh well , at least we will always find it easier to get winners when we have consistently good race tracks.
