The change to weight distributions in NSW starts on January 17th. From that date it is intended that there be a 8kg weight range in as any races as possible. It’s a return to weights being more effective in handicapping. It remains to be seen of a similar possibility is set in motion in other States. Back in the 70’s weights were a genuine way of form analysis until weights started to get depressed in the 90s. In recent times weights had become less relevant, rather the pace of the race started to change the way professionals are handicapping.
