What’s interesting today is that at Grafton they have adjusted all the distances to take into accoount the added distance due to the rail being out instead of moving the barriers forward. The rail positon in the straight makes no difference but the extra distance covered by sharper angles on the turns does. So three metres out is probabaly the equivalent of of four barrier positions. The etxra distance is 6 meteres for the short races, 10 meters for 1400 and 1600 metre races and 15 metres for the 2200 race. It’s quite a lot isn’t it? Lucikly, our winform ratings are based on the times adjusted forthe distance so future ratings should be sound. If you think about it will a horse that would have gotten home by half a length, now be beaten?? Or will the jockeys all make that mental adjustemnet in their minds? It was good to see the Jungle Juice Cup won by our top rated horse yesterday even if the track was heavy. It wa one of only two heavy track specialists in the field. It was also backed from $20 into $9 and it’s not often we see Greg Ryan on longer priced horses. I had a small wager on it just for the heck of it. Our other strategies had little action yesterday and our one wet trcak strategy was a loser on the day but is not very deep into the Money Factory Bank so should clear it all out and reach new heights soon.
