As I mentioned before, Peter Moody’s biography has now been released and Helen Thomas has done a great job of bringing to us the man and the family, for his wife Sarah is a big part of it, and it is a most interesting life. In each of the inbetween chapters we see the inside story of the cobalt saga that ended up with his leading training establishment being wiped from the map. In the end a high levbel of cobalt in just one galloper, Lidari, put one man out of business and hundreds of people out of work with Racing authorities never able to pinpoint what or who might have been responsible. We see Moody for the man he is and there is nothiong bad to see. We don’t see a man trying to cheat the odds, just a man dedicated to the horse and his close associates. We see his ascendancy as a great partnership between his self and his partner and we relive the great horses he was privledged to train. It cost $34.99 but no doubt your local retailer will have it at a much better price… Christmas is coming and its a great time to add a another Helen Thomas book to your collection. On another random note. The very last race at Flemington Saturday fell away to a 7 horse field. Our Grandslam runner finished 3rd but we had a Bolter selection, Lord Aspen and it won. The resulting Quinella was $55 and Trifecta around $500. Sadly we don’t recommend the exotics as being a good bet in fields less than 8.
