We had five races highlighted last night at the Valley for our Spring Package subscribers. Race 3 Houtzen, well $1.65 best price, final $1.4…no big deal. Missed the Quinella , not that it was worth a go anyway. The Trifecta landed in ouir lap in the 5th $660 and Quinella $46.4, trhe dividends surprised me. Boom Time , we thought would get this but while caught in traffic, his run lacked dash at the finish but could still improve and win a good race. A good result each way. I Am A Star was a very strong winner back in Mares company and we found the Quinella $26.50 and Trifecta $171.9 and I rarely comment on the Exacta but it was $40.1 and I believe rarely good value. Sheidel, wee tipped to come back to form and it did, Russian Revolution disappointed, no Everest now I would expect and if you add Brave Smash that’s two underpar efforts. Sheidel was overwhelmed by the amazing performance of She Will Reign. Sheidel looked to have it won at the turn but could not hold the new s[print queen of Australia! Viddora was close . The last was a jog trot for our 3rd rated runner Showtime and a slow time, heaven help the failed runners from this race. Houtzen, strangely, as she looked to have had enough at the finish, was the best performance of the night and simply blew away teh opposition from the get go and maintained the “rage”. Only 8 meetings today, the Grand Final takes away a sizeable chunk of the punters for the day, and the Epsom has fallen away to just 10 starters…what is going on?
