We never sit still and so we have been reviewing all plans and most stay. We are reluctant to change when we know that subscribers want to stick to what they are using. When we assess new plans we are not changing a lot, the base seelections are still those created by the Winform ratings but we know we have to take other factors into account and these are the ones that change. For example, about three or so years ago we had changes to weight conditions and in NSW another change in Metro Benchmark races, different from everywhere else. In addition we had changes in the way track conditions are rated and so on. Last year was the first year our Gold Club selections failed to make a profit and this year is even worse, a dead set loss except for Spring which was good. So why is it that something that has worked for so many years suddenly falling offf the grid? We may never know. Is it that our policy of only choosing lightly raced horses is no longer valid? Is it that training methods have changed, well yes that is one possibility. Or is it just a blip that will right itself next year? Who knows. Anyhow, we have looked at combining a number of plans and in doing so we only looked at the period where whip rules, weights and track gradings are all involved. For example, we no longer penalise for Good 4 and Soft 5. That may be in error but the problem is that the majority of Good 4’s and Soft 5’s upgrade during the day so we are left in a bit of a space. The answer came up with a new selection plan that looks consistent month after month with a race strike rate around 33% and only one month since November 2015 that was a lot lower than average. In the drier months around 40-50 runners a month was the norm and in wet months about 150 or so. Enough to do something with and a dividend average around $3.80 if all backed at level stakes. Our staking plan MOney Factory will eat that up we reckon. So how is it going so far? Well Monday 2 wins from 4 @ $2.50 ans $2.10 and yesterday 2 wins from 8 @ $3.90 and $6.40. That would do me every day of the week except so far the figures look bestaway from the Metros. I’m guessing because of the extra info that’s more readily available which affects the price. We are running beta trials via the bot and will let eveyone know how that goes.
