At least three out of the five meetings today ar rated Slow 7 and possibly worse later on. That means that we’ll be fine for C Plan where we do all tracks except Heavy and it will be fine for the Favourite Plan and combined Plan on only two tracks Doomben and Belmont. And a new plan I am running myself with the bot which focuses on favourites will also only run on two tracks so a low turnover day. There will be many this Winter. You can see in this photo how horses veer to the outside of the track when it is wet and although physically losing ground to get there, they will be generally in better going as most tracks drain to the inside of the track. This even applies to the best draining tracks. One track I am looking forward to seeing is the new Newcastle track when it resumes next February. It is said that even on the wettest days it wont get to heavy ratings. Our Gold Club Members will be looking forward to Saturday as our first runner although at first look appears outclassed, has excellent wet track form and last start ran the second fastest sectional of the day. Our second runner of the day has also won twice on wet tracks , is 3rd up from a spell at what the trainer expects will be her favoured distance and although listed as second last in her most recent race, she was eased down when it was clear she would not be placed. The work of both runners has been right up to scratch and so we have a great chance of landing an each way double which is what I will be having. The first horse has a 20 point penalty for having just a 14.3% strike rate (we prefer Metro Saturday ruinners to have 15%) but I usually delete that penalty for horses with a small number of starts, in this case just 14. A win would bump him up to 20% wins. The two horses are in a race to race double by the way.
