Regardless of the weather there was never going to be a real longshot win. Jameka was always in our mix and it was obvious that a leader would be able to do the job with the right jockey on board. As much as Oliver was guilty of inpropriety after finally admitting that he backed the winner in a race in which he was riding, and as much as Oliver is the only jockey to ever refuse a personal interview with us (he would only answer a list of preapproved questions in writing in advance and not personally) his ability as a rider was never in question. He is one of the greats and knows Flemington like the back of his hand. The only question to be asked yesterday was would the fillies be found out on the heavy ground. Well if we hadn’t already placed our bets early, we wouldnt have bet. In the end the win of Jameka saved our otherwise almost bet free day. We are obnliged to provide a coverage of Flemington tomorrow for our clients but we wont be recomending any betting if the track remains heavy. We can do that anytime opnce the rain goes away.
