Back at Sandown for the midweeks. There wont be many people there but there will be competitive Racing and that is always good for the punters. Six meetings altogther means no lack of patience with races every few minutes. Ipswich is Heavy 8 and lots of scratchings so for us that is a no go zone and even if upgraded, fields are small and only one of our favourite strategies might apply. Yesterday there were some poor performances from favourites but a couple of very good ones. I was impressed with the Tuncurry track which looked better for punters than the nearby Taree track. At first I though there was no banking on the turn but a close look at the last showed there is. Hesco Gold ran 1.10.1 in Race 4 and came from well back at the turn. Port Gold ran even faster in the next race. It will be interesting to see if the form holds up once the days runners compete again after the next few weeks. For now though we can’t do a proper assessment as only a very small number of meetings have been held.
