“HI Garry
Long-time no chat.
I feel sorry for any members yesterday that were trying to use Powerbet.
About 17 metropolitan race clashes thanks to VRC. I had to tape 4 different race channels just to get to watch my ½ dozen bets in Ade, Mel, Syd & Bris.
Melbourne races getting flicked to Sky2 from 519 at the death knock . What a joke and disgrace.
All for change but one in all in.
How hard can it be four general managers to have a phone hook-up and agree and race times.
I would have thought that the industry was struggling enough after the Sky channel TVN debacle and the loss of Eagle Farm and QLD racing prizemoney cuts without added to the woos and frustration of punters.
I know a lot of big punters who are walking away from Ausi racing to concentrate on Hong Kong. Less is more that’s why they have massive pools and confident punters.
That’s my Sunday morning gripe.
Anyhow hope you and family are well.’’’

I noticed yesterday that Skychannel gave preference to the country races at places like Dalby and the Sapphire Coast, and there may have even been a Darwin race on Sky1 and many of these switches were at the last minute givign even subscribers, little chance of switching over and yes it got very confusing for Powerplay users , however, I simply in putted both races if it looked like a clash, luckily there was only one Powerplay clash and in that instance I simply backed all four horses that were eligible. As it turned out, we had a great day with Powerplay. Our 2016 Punitng syndicate was unlucky yesterday with threelegs of the Quaddie at Caulfield. Our 6th rated horse won the last race but we couldnt have it…Why? 4 runs at Caulfield for zero placings as well as poor form coming into the race. The win cost us a $26,000 payout on the second horse, which we were on. Luckily, I bet$3k on the remaininghorses that weren’t already in our Quaddie and made a solid profit out of it. Unfortunately, the winner firmed from $41 to $16 and so some of our bets got paid at $19 best tote with us having calculated the ducthbet on the higher figure. Still, it’s better to have three staright legs to give us the opportunity to cover the rest of the field.

Agree the last minute switching of Caulfield races on Sky was frustrating. I for one like the idea of 30 minute breaks between races however for it to work then all States need to be on board.
Its a fact of life that folk now want sport to happen quicker. That is evident in the popularity of the short versions of Cricket, Rugby Union, Rugby League, and even Tennis.
Racings popularity is waning and turnover is being lost to sports betting so introducing a faster sleeker model has in my opinion merit.
I find it very surprising and upsetting that those responsible for race times, particularly on metropolitan races on Saturdays and other important days, cannot get their act together and agree on times that do not conflict. They need to have times that are at least 5 minutes apart to allow for delayed starts, which are very common for one reason or another. And even today Monday with only three country meetings, there were clashes. What is going on? Don’t the key players understand that if there are no punters then there is likely no race meetings? Look at their lost turnover. I missed betting on some races because of those clashes and I suspect many others also missed placing bets. Sounds like the racing game is doing too well these days and doesn’t need us punters. Casinos are looking good as a better option.
