Well Queensland will be the place for their Summer Carnival with a couple of good quality Black type races and Perth of course but they will both need horses and Susannah Forrest has just released a new book The AGE Of The HORSE. It’s an equine journey through Human History and it’s a damn good read but you may not like all of it. For example, were you aware that 2.7 % of all meat slaughtered for human consumption is horses. Europeans eat it, Russians eat it and countries that don’t eat it often send their horses off to an adjacent country for them to slaughter and eat it. Tell that to the anti horse racing establishment. Anyhow Sussana Forrest writes well and surprisingly you wont find a lot about horseracing but plenty about battle and polo and industry etc. It’s available from bookstores and on E-Book and published by Atlantic Books. Later this week I’ll tell you about a new book featuring many Sporting anecdotes you might enjoy.
