So I am associated with Laurel Oak which have Rebel Dane with Gary Portelli and I have other horses with him. I frist met Gary many years ago when he was at Cessnock and just getting going as a trainer. He trains two of our Gold Club horses. We rated him $12 and Chataqua no chance and yes peoeple said “how is that possible?” In the end a $71 winner, 3rd rated and we had the $150 Quinella. So now to the Cox Plate. Are you all sure Winx will win?? And nothing else a chance? The truth is that anyhting is possible.

I generally don’t look at the Friday night races. However with the Canterbury meeting on as well to drop the boredom level a bit, I decided to start a Power Bet series, You would wonder why after the great Friday I had closing out multiple times.
However, as the Manikato neared, I closed another series and thought that will do me form tonight, so I didn’t get to back the big winner. You do wonder at the vagaries of the confetti principle at times don’t you?
Great group of selections for the Manikato, I must say I was surprised by the price of the winner pre-race. Generally I have a small dabble on something like this but as I had only arrived home 30 minutes prior to jump (working away last 3 days) decided to just stick with the top 5 Quinella…great result!! I did miss the best bet at Taree earlier in the day due to work, bit of a bummer but this certainly made up for it.
